Normally, in one’s career the general thinking is to get experience, progress up the ranks, get more experience and “climb the ladder”. However, Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick has decades of experience and still a Captain.
This got me thinking.
If you are a software developer, why not become the best software developer rather than “climb the ladder” and eventually (where everyone lands up) start managing people (for which you could possibly suck at)!
Be the best at what you are.
