Version 1.0

I heard an interesting podcast yesterday in which the speaker mentioned about how he misses version 1.0 of a lot of apps that he has tried. This struck a chord in me. Version 1.0 comes out as fresh, slim and fast. Maybe, rought around the edges but still functional. And then, over the next few years it's starts to get stale, bloated and slow. I get it - software is a living thing that needs to be nurtured. However, adding features is not always the solution. Software can be small, opinionated, niche and completed. There is an art in managing that living thing without feeding it junk.
I miss version 1.0 of many apps that I currently use.
